The Vegas Hooping Community
Hello Fabulous Vegas Hoopers!|
Hoopy 2010 to all of you! :-)
I am pleased to announce that on Tuesday 1/12, 1/19, and 1/26, I will be offering open hooping from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm at the West Las Vegas Arts Center. These open practice times are reserved for anyone who would like to work on their hooping skills, connect with other hoopers, share tips, and incorporate more fun and movement into their lives. Newbies and hoopers of all experience levels are welcome!
There will be no formal class instruction but I will be available to encourage proper technique as well as help troubleshoot those who request assistance. Stay for all or part of the session. Music will be provided and everyone is also encouraged to bring their own tunes to share. (The studio has a CD player but currently no iPod capability.) If I receive a positive response to these open hooping sessions, I will continue to offer them on a weekly basis. Please come out and help grow our local hooping community!
For those of you who would like more formal class instruction, I will be offering a new series of beginning HoopDance classes in February and will post the schedule as soon as it is available. Stay tuned for more information and event postings!
Due to space limitations, RESERVATIONS are currently required for all open hooping sessions and can be made on a first come, first served basis. Please notify me (firstname.lastname@example.org) at least 3 hours prior to practice and let me know that you will be coming. Details are below. I hope to see you soon! :-)
Location: West Las Vegas Arts Center
947 W. Lake Mead Blvd.
Las Vegas, NV 89106
Phone: (702) 229-4800
Payment: A $5 donation would be greatly appreciated to help assist with venue rental and administrative costs. (Donations can be made in person at each session you choose to attend.) I will not turn anyone away due to lack of funds if there is space available.
What to wear: Dress in comfortable clothing that allows for freedom of movement. Natural fibers, such as Cotton, work best and having your shoulders exposed is essential when learning upper body hooping. Street shoes can damage the studio floor so bare feet or clean dance shoes/sneakers are recommended.
Hydration: Hooping is a high cardio activity! Be sure to bring water with you to class and drink often.
Hoops: Extra hoops will be available for a $2 rental fee. Adult size hoops are also available for purchase online from the following retailers:
~ Luv 2 Hoop: A local, family owned business specializing in hand-crafted, custom hoops. These hoops are slightly lighter in weight than other adult sized hoops, making them extremely versatile and perfect for a variety of HoopDance moves. I HIGHLY recommend these! Be sure to mention that you were referred by Julie and receive $5 off your hoop order!
~ Hoopnotica: Excellent hoops and instructional DVDs. Enter the code APJS1111 at checkout and receive 10% all hoop and DVD orders!
